Thirty First Annual Conference of IASP and Call for papers

The Thirty First Annual Conference of IASP will be held at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati during November 3-5, 2009. The main theme of the conference is “Population and Disease”.

The Millennium Development Goals to be achieved by 2015 relate to specific targets in terms of child health and mortality, maternal health and mortality, adolescent health and reduction of burden of HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis.  In the light of several efforts being made towards improving the health status of various sections of the population, there is a need for the Demographic fraternity to focus on the health and disease related aspects in terms of current status, differentials, trends, determinants, and policy and programme initiatives as well as implications. We also need to understand the disease burden classified by communicable and infectious disease besides the others.  The conference would comprise panel discussions and presentation of invited and contributed research papers and posters on the sub-themes listed below:

1. Reproductive health including maternal mortality

2. Child care, morbidity and mortality

3. Adolescent and adult health

4.Infectious and Non communicable  diseases

5.Epidemiological transition

6.Research on disease burden

7.Disease burden – methodological issues including innovations in methodology and use of data on disease burden

8.Linking Research findings with economics by monetizing disease/mortality burden to the country and household and presenting alternatives for Government action

9.Emerging disease pattern and the likely burden on Government

10.Critical appraisal of health policy form disease burden perspective that would lead to policy changes

11.Sexual health

12. Methodological issues related to large scale sample surveys
